The New Community Resource for Navenby
September 2012 marked a new era for community facilities in Navenby with the opening of our new community hall, village office, pre-school and sports changing rooms.

The Venue @ Navenby offers several options for bookings -
Each large room has climate control, a wooden floor, storage and an individual kitchen and is isolated from the other rooms so that concurrent activities can be managed. We are equipped to cater for your large or small functions - seminars, weddings, dinners and parties or day and evening classes.The premises are fully licensed. A WiFi link is available. We can advise on caterers, bands and discos.

The Main Hall - Available for day, evening and weekend bookings from 1 hour to all day to suit all types of events and classes. Seating for up to 175 and an excellent dance floor. The large Lobby provides an ideal reception area. Full blinds and screened emergency doors provide complete privacy.

The Pre-school room - Happy Days Pre-school provides pre-school and day-care services Monday to Friday. Visit Happy Days for further details. The room is available for weekend bookings and in conjunction with the Main Hall as a social area for large events.

The Club Room - available for daytime and evening activity groups, meetings, parties and smaller events or with the Main Hall as a separate activity room.

The Private Room - a smaller space suitable for booking as a temporary office, class room or treatment room for professional users or private meetings. WiFi enabled.

The Village Office - to visit for parish and NKDC information and for Parish Council activities - open Tuesday - Friday 9.00am to 12 noon. The conference room can be booked for small committee meetings.

The Changing Rooms - provide 4 FA compliant rooms with showers and toilets and two rooms for officials. These will be used by Navenby Junior Football Club but will be available to rent and for other sports and activities.

The Field - can be reserved for outdoor activities or displays at certain times of the year with independent access to male and female toilets and showers. The Main Hall kitchen provides a serving hatch to the field for refreshments.

For the last two years, the County Council has been working on a plan to revise the way that library services are delivered. Driven by the need to control budgets and by the changes in the way we all access information and books, the Council has developed a tiered plan for library services. Tier 1 or Core libraries will remain in the major towns and be open 50 hours per week. Tier 2 libraries will be located at Bourne, Market Rasen, Horncastle, Long Sutton and Woodhall Spa and open for 25 hours per week. With more than 550 households, Navenby qualifies for a Tier 3 service to replace the Mobile Library with a community run library to be open at least 6 hours per week. This will receive funding support from the Council and be run by volunteers. Smaller communities will still be supported by the mobile library at 1 hour per month.

We have worked with the county librarian to establish the support and equipment needed and have room at The Venue alongside the Village Office to provide space for the library. We would like to offer library access several days each week and for longer than the minimum 6 hours - with the actual times and hours dependent on the availability of volunteers who can staff the library. The plan is to open the library by the spring of next year or earlier if possible. The service will include book lending, with the ability to reserve a book on-line to be delivered to the library, internet access and computer facilities. We hope also to provide a downloadable book service directly to an electronic reader which many libraries now offer.
The formal application was submitted to LCC in September and we have received approval for the next stage to submit the detailed needs and grant required for final approval in March.

The Venue was constructed by Navenby Parish Council with the help and support of many local volunteers who developed the plans and raised the money.

Funding support was provided by local and national sponsors.
