Update: Sunday 28th June 2009
Finding the Romans with trowel and brush The excavation at the corner of High Dyke and Headland Way has completed two of the four weeks of scheduled work. A roadway, building foundations and Roman graves have been uncovered. If you live locally and would like to join in this volunteer project it is not too late. You will find more details on the NAG WebsiteTours of the site will be available at 11.00am and 3.30pm each day starting Saturday 27th June. The project will end on Sat. 11th July. BBC Radio Lincolnshire will transmit the Breakfast Show from the site on Thurs. 2nd July. Women's Institute 2009 - 2010 program details. WI PageAnnual WI Garden Party - Wed 8th July at 7pm. Details on the Events page A couple of showers in the morning but not enough to spoil the fun - until the afternoon when it poured down and play had to be abandoned. Pictures of the day are in the Picture Galleryand you can learn more about the re-enactment group Ousekjarr A Parish Council project is underway to see if more trees, shrubs and flowers can be planted in public spaces around the village and along the High Street. Grants are available but volunteer help will be needed. What do you think of the idea? More details and a feedback form on the Council News Page Do your internet pages load more slowly than they used to? Navenby has a good broadband connect speed but my internet response has slowed over the last month or so even though I still measure the download rate as 8Mb/s which is very good. The word is that, in April, workers at the Olympic site in London accidentally cut through a conduit 32 metres underground severing bundles of optical fibres. When this happens, network traffic must be re-routed and shared among other existing cables forming a queue. So - even though your connection is as good as ever - the pages you request may be held up before they get to Navenby. It may take some time to repair.
